“Events Before the Tribulation”
May 19, 2013
Pastor Roger Ball
“Vengeance is mine,” says God. Today we look at the evil devastation by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The Book of Revelation reveals that evil reigns near the end of the world and we see the ultimate justice from God. You will see and understand the “Seven Seals” and then later “Seven Trumpet Judgments” and then “Seven Bowl Judgments.”
Four Seals: Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
Revelation 6:1 – And I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.”
Revelation 6:2 – And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him; and he went out conquering, and to conquer.
1.The First Seal:
Why a bow?
Why did this rider get a crown?
Who gave this rider a crown?
The rider on the white horse had two choices: Pro-Jesus or Anti-Jesus … (anti-Christ)?
Matthew 24:15 – “Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
Could this rider be the man of sin … the little Horn of Daniel 7, the man of sin? The ruler of the restored Roman Empire, Revelation 13 … “
Revelation 6:3 – And when He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature, saying, “Come.”
Revelation 6:4 – And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men should slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
2.The Second Seal:
Who would take away peace from earth as a job description?
Who would want people to murder each other?
What does the “great sword” represent?
Who is the rider on the red horse?
Revelation 6:5 – And when He broke the third seal, I heard the “third living creature saying, “Come.” And I looked; and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.
3.The Third Seal:
Who is the rider on the Black horse?
Why a pair of scales in his hand?
Revelation 6:6 – And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”
What is meant by “a quart of wheat for a denarius and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine?”
This is a situation at the end of time right before or right at the entrance of the Great Tribulation when “food distribution is under huge strict control.”
Matthew 24:6 – And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. (7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.
Lamentations 4:9 – Better are those slain with the sword than those slain with hunger; for they pine away, being stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.
Lamentations 5:10 – Our skin has become as hot as an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.
Revelation 6:7 – And when He broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.”
Revelation 6:8 – And I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.
4.The Fourth Seal:
What is the rider’s name?
What follows this rider?
Jesus said that such disasters were “the beginning of birth pains” (Mark 13:8). They “must happen, but the end is still to come” (Mark 13:7).
Last night as we slept 40,000 children starved to death. In the 21st
century 40,000 children starve to death every day.
Tens of thousands starving to death and we have money and resources to keep it from happening.
How savage will people become when there is very little food?
Matthew 24:7 – For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.
Who do the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse symbolize?
