“Demonic Army Unleashed”

War, who needs it, who wants it? War is not popular in the USA but we sure have had a lot of it in our history. Since the beginning of the 20th century we have been involved in six major wars. These wars have cost 623,333 lives and thousands of soldiers wounded. In fact, since the Revolutionary War in 1775 the USA has lost 1,321,612 men and women on the field of battle. Worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century 108 million lives have been lost in war. There are about seven wars going on in the world right now. The one we know most about is the war in Afghanistan because we are involved in it. Over the last 3,400 years there has been peace for only 288 years, just 8% of the time. Benjamin Franklin said, “There never was a good war or a bad peace.” John Kennedy declared, “The basic problems facing the world today are not susceptible to a military solution”. Jesus said, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars but see to it you are not alarmed, such things must happen…” It looks like we’re stuck with war. Not because Jesus said it, but because He knew the anger, hatred, selfishness and vengeance hidden in the human heart. Today in the prophecy of Revelation 9:12-21 we are introduced to a war that takes place just past the half-way point in the Tribulation and the unbelievable response the survivors have to it.
Revelation 9:12 – The first woe is passed; behold, two woes are coming after these things
The first woe is described in Revelation 9:1-11 and has been five months of ____.
A good definition of a “woe” is __
Revelation 9:13 – Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden alter which is before God,
Revelation 9:14 – one saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.
The Euphrates River runs through modern day __
__and ____.
Its headwaters are in ____.
It divides western and eastern
Revelation 9:15 – And the four angels that had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released, so that they would kill a third of mankind.
Revelation 9:16 – The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.”
These evil angels mobilize the largest army the world has ever seen which leads to the deaths of __
__of the remaining population of the earth
This army will focus on destroying __
Who will constitute this army, from what countries or people groups will the soldiers come from?
Revelation 9:17 – And this is how I saw in the vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths proceed fire and smoke and brimstone.
Revelation 9:18 – A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which
proceeded out of their mouths.
Revelation 9:19 – For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm.
What might these strange things be?
Breastplates of various colors: __
Lions mouths spouting fire and belching smoke: __
Tails like snakes: __
This attack and the weapons are directed primarily at ____ and her ______.
Revelation 9:20 – The remaining men and women who weren’t killed by these weapons went on their merry way—didn’t change their way of life, didn’t quit worshipping demons, didn’t quit centering their lives around lumps of gold and silver and brass, hunks of stone and wood that couldn’t see or hear or move.
Revelation 9:21 – There wasn’t a sign of a change of heart. They plunged right on in their murderous, occult, promiscuous and thieving ways. (The Message)
Why does God allow or even permit natural disasters? __
What has God done for you since the day of your birth?
Has God gotten your attention this morning? If “Yes,” what are you going to do to change the way you live? __
If your answer is “No,” read verses 15-19 twice a day all week long. You’ll need to be familiar with this because you will probably be on earth living through those experiences. Won’t be fun!
